PADI Qualifications

PADI Open Water

To qualify for PADI Open Water you will learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including how to use and maintain dive equipment. You need to complete 5 confined dives and knowledge development sessions, and then make a further 4 open water dives.

Before you leave for your placement, we do recommend doing a try-dive if you've never dived before. Talk to your local dive shop and explain it's for a good cause – you might be able to do it for free!

Weather permitting, you will be able to complete your dives whilst on your placement.

Cost: £250

PADI Advanced Open Water

To qualify for PADI Advanced Open Water, you must complete some additional specialised dives. These will be covered in your training during your placement, weather permitting.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you to increase your confidence underwater and improve your scuba skills. You'll learn underwater navigation and how to dive as deep as 30m! On our marine conservation projects, you'll have the chance to train up to Advanced Open Water alongside fully trained professionals and other volunteers.

Cost: £230

Other PADI Qualifications

For a small additional fee you can complete your PADI qualifications under the supervision of our top dive experts in a beautiful marine environment!

Our dive professionals on camp can also train you up to PADI Divemaster, time and location permitting.

PADI Rescue Diver

Described as both challenging and rewarding, the PADI Rescue Diver qualification builds on what you've already learnt. You learn about recognising and preventing problems during your dive, as well as rescuing yourself and others. You need a PADI Adventure Diver certificate and to have been trained in first aid and CPR to go on this course.

Cost: £275 to £300

PADI Emergency First Response

This course is not just for divers, and is a great qualification to have and enables you to take your PADI Rescue Diver! The course covers first aid and CPR, and is good for anyone who wants to learn how to administer first aid in a diving incident.

Cost: £85 to £120 (Required to enrol in PADI Rescue Diver)

PADI Divemaster

The first step in a scuba diving career – hone your skills to a professional level and start the training to become your very own PADI instructor. You will need a PADI Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and to be qualified in first aid and CPR to take this course.

Cost: £340 to £600

Please remember: you can only train up to PADI Divemaster once your ability is assessed by the Dive Officer in-country, and if you are enrolled on the Frontier Group project for sufficient time. Always check beforehand.
